Sans titre, 2009, acrylic on plywood153,5 x 123 cm

Christian Kiopini defines his pictorial practice as a continuous, multiform experience of the space of painting. Since the mid-1970s, he has been working on a search based on the structural use of color in drawing, which brings him to redefine and characterize certain elements of pictoriality. Over the years, he has produced an important body of works, in which geometry (structures), objects (references) and color intertwine into a dimensional and chromatic versatility.

That versatility of the elements is addressed in an elliptical mode that short-circuits any possible anecdote. During the last few years, he has been focusing on rereading and reclaiming phenomena and principles linked to circularity, while maintaining, in an open-minded perspective, the initial settings of his experimentations.
