Denis Farley lives and works  in Montreal. He exhibits his photographic works in Canada, Europe and the United States. Farley is a visual artist and professional photographer.  His work gives reference to his interest of architecture, nature and how we inhabit those spaces. Inspired by pre-photographic history and the utopic architectures of Étienne-Louis Boullé, Farley developed a series of photographs in the early 90’s by using a tent camera obscura. The photographed result displayed the architectural elements that had more to do with inner vision than the exact representations. This period of experimentation led his passion to visually express beyond the material aspects of architecture and convey more towards the elements of perception and memory.
The content of the series, Displacements (2003-2006) touches upon the relations between the individual and his/her presence in a contemporary architectural environment. He integrates individuals in strategic locations and links them between the volume, space and building materials involved. The sites represented are from North America and Europe and integrates landmark architectures by architects such as: Ben Van Berkel (UN studio), Dominic Perrault and Cesar Pelli, to name a few.
